Your Role:

This position is part of the Overdose Prevention Site providing harm reduction and supervised consumption services. The site is located outside of the Alpha House shelter, offering a monitored, hygienic environment for individuals to use drugs while reducing harm from substance use. The team provides wrap-around services such as counselling, referrals to services like housing and treatment, opioid agonist therapy, detox, and income support.

As a Primary Care Paramedic, you will be part of the OPS, supporting clients coping with addictions through case management in a multidisciplinary team. You will provide assessments, evaluations, and oversight of patient care, helping navigate clients in crisis to reduce impacts on individuals, families, and the community. This position also works closely with other services in supporting and coordination of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehensive physical and mental health assessments
  • Delivery of harm reduction supplies
  • Supervised consumption clinical interventions and education
  • Naloxone distribution and health education
  • Other health education and support through the Safeworks program
  • Immunizations, distribution of safer sex and drug use supplies, and basic wound care

Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Primary Care Paramedic program
  • Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as Primary Care Paramedic
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation
