Key Responsibilities:

  • Check formwork, granular base, and steel reinforcement materials to ensure a strong foundation for concrete pours.
  • Direct the placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade and depth specifications.
  • Fill hollows and remove spots on freshly poured cement to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Operate power vibrators to compact concrete and ensure it sets properly.
  • Level top surface concrete according to grade and depth specifications.
  • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages, to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Impart desired finishes to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools.
  • Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and other fixtures as required.
  • Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces and protect them from the elements.
  • Waterproof, damp proof, and restore surfaces to ensure a long-lasting finish.
  • Repair, resurface, and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures.
  • Estimate costs and materials for projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.

Requirements:

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in the field.
  • Permanent employment with 30 to 35 hours per week.
  • English as the primary language of work.
