We offer over 120,000 square feet of flexible event space in the heart of downtown. The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a million-square-foot mixed-use development featuring a hotel, office towers, and retail space.

The Director of Marketing & Communications oversees our marketing and communications team, delivering comprehensive programs for Events East, the Halifax Convention Centre, and Scotiabank Centre. This role involves strategic management of all communications and marketing strategies, internal and external communications, issues management, brand management, media relations, and marketing promotions.

This position plays a key role in developing and executing strategies to enhance our corporate reputation and brand presence of Scotiabank Centre and the Halifax Convention Centre. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a marketing team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Developing and executing marketing strategies to increase visibility, engagement, and ticket sales for both venues.
  • Directing all aspects of corporate communications, including internal messaging, media relations, and issues management.
  • Implementing targeted marketing and promotion strategies for events to drive ticket sales and foster engagement with community members, promoters, and event organizers.
  • Establishing partnerships to strengthen our profile and community ties.

We're seeking an experienced leader with a strong understanding of the marketing communications environment across digital and traditional channels. A proven track record of implementing successful marketing and communications strategies and campaigns is essential.

The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, combined with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or brand management. As a leader, you'll inspire and empower your team, creating an environment of trust and collaboration while guiding the team toward shared success.
