Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Compliance Officer Lead to join our team at Shinhan Bank Canada. This is a highly visible and critical role that requires a strong understanding of compliance regulations and practices.

About the Role

The Senior Compliance Officer Lead will be responsible for leading our compliance function, ensuring that we meet all regulatory requirements and maintain a robust compliance program.

This includes building and executing a comprehensive risk management framework, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring adherence to industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance, with experience in senior leadership roles and a proven track record of driving compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of our compliance program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Build and execute a comprehensive risk management framework, identifying and mitigating potential risks to the organization.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure adherence to compliance regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of compliance activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees on compliance matters, ensuring a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in legal studies, accounting, finance, or a related field required.
  • At least 15 years of experience in banking or financial services, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior compliance leadership role.
  • Proven track record of driving compliance initiatives and improving compliance outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including AML/ATF and privacy regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Certifications such as CAMS or CCO designation preferred.
