Research Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Manager to join our team at The University of British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a large, international research project, coordinating multi-site activities, and working with a range of partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the research project, including coordinating activities, managing budgets, and overseeing expenditures.
  • Develop and implement project work plans, assign tasks to research staff members, and monitor progress.
  • Provide operational support to the research project team, including developing infrastructure linkages, managing enquiries, and participating in the preparation of research team annual achievement reports.
  • Work with Principal Investigators to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate research staff, trainees, and volunteers.
  • Contribute to creating a strong team environment by fostering trust and mutual respect and supporting open dialogue.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent analysis skills, including quantitative and qualitative data management software.
  • Advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, task prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be thorough, accurate, and have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-graduate degree (PhD level) in Health or a Social Sciences discipline.
  • Recent related experience in research management or project coordination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, task prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
