Job Description

We are seeking a Tax Manager to lead our tax engagements and provide expert advice to our clients. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading multiple client-facing engagement teams responsible for completing tax engagements.
  • Delivering industry and technical expertise in taxation and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Evaluating existing business processes and policies, advising on policy and tax changes, developing proactive tax strategies that make effective use of business opportunities, and ensuring businesses are run efficiently.
  • Overseeing corporate re-organizations projects to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Leading comprehensive in-depth tax research initiatives to analyze and interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
  • Assisting in the management of the administration of personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
  • Managing a portfolio of clients while understanding their business, key risks, and ways to deliver added value; ensuring their needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop.
  • Being accountable for engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials (i.e., budgets, WIPS, timely billing, collection, and variance recognition).
  • Maintaining high quality control and applying specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify, and address issues relevant to the client's business, financial entries, and reports.
  • Networking in the local business community, considering business development opportunities, and contributing to the preparation and delivery of competitive proposals to meet client needs.
  • Mentoring, motivating, and coaching team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Completing Level 1 of In-depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses.
  • Having 4 to 5 years of relevant public accounting or tax consulting experience.
  • Holding extensive working knowledge of Canadian Tax.
  • Having a strong understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles.
  • Proven people management, relationship building, and leadership skills.
