Signal Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Signal Maintenance Technician to join our team at CP. As a Signal Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our signal and communications systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and verify the correct operation of signal and communications systems and equipment on assigned territory
- Perform preventive maintenance on all signal and communications apparatus
- Make inspections and tests as required on each device
- Repair or replace defective devices
- Investigate and locate problems or failures and take the proper corrective action
- Plan own work and coordinate it with others
- Ensure there is enough material on hand to permit work or repairs to be completed without undue delay
- Install apparatus in accordance with prepared circuit drawings and standards
- Make authorized corrections and modifications to circuits and enter the changes on plans
- Prepare and submit reports, time sheets, and handle general correspondence
Requirements
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must pass the CPKC Signal Maintainer examination or hold Class 1 qualifications
- A safety-oriented work ethic supported by experience performing labor in an outdoor work environment
- The ability to follow instructions, rules, and regulations is essential
- Ability to work as a valuable member of a team
- Good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills are essential
- Commercial Vehicle and/or air brake license is considered an asset
