About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary leader to join our team as the Head of Leadership and Professional Development. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of leadership development at General Motors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy Development
    • Partner with business leaders and HR teams to establish leader expectations and behaviors aligned with GM's strategic objectives.
    • Develop a professional development framework that considers GM's culture and the current state of our leadership community.
    • Establish short- and long-term leadership and professional development strategies.
  • Programming
    • Translate strategies into objectives that drive comprehensive leadership and professional development programs.
    • Partner with learning advisors and program managers to establish programs.
    • Integrate expectations and behaviors into performance management processes.
    • Develop and implement change management plans to ensure behavioral expectations become an integral part of GM's culture.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Establish relationships with senior leaders, line management, HRBPs, and the broader employee population.
    • Influence how senior leaders view the role of leadership and professional development in executing GM's business strategy.
    • Coach and support senior leaders in addressing team-related issues and opportunities.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling learning and development programs for an organization.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing leadership and professional development strategies for large global organizations.
  • Expertise in current leadership development research and a solid network for providing recommendations.
  • Strong technical skills, analytical thinking, and ability to operationalize global leadership and professional development programs.
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to define and solve problems quickly.
  • Strong advising and relationship building skills; ability to work in a collaborative and team-centric culture.
  • Enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire others.
  • A track record of building impactful teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to package and present complex analysis and recommendations clearly.
  • Well-versed in digital learning, just-in-time/micro-learning, and blended learning strategies.
  • Commitment to diversity, belonging, and valuing different perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Coaching certification from an industry recognized organization.
  • An advanced degree in Organizational Development, Leadership, or a related field.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable provincial laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, or Nova Scotia.

The salary range for this role is $142,800 - $214,200. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
