Baycrest is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic programs for our Memory Care Floor residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Terraces Recreation team to develop and implement therapeutic programs for Memory Care Floor residents.
  • Provide departmental program coverage, including occasional evening and weekend work.
  • Design and lead innovative individual and group programs based on residents' needs.
  • Ability and flexibility to execute spontaneous programming when resident needs arise.
  • Work with Volunteers and other staff to identify and monitor resident needs.
  • Facilitate the provision of intergenerational programming.
  • Contribute to the multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Coordinate services with other staff/departments.
  • Develop and maintain inventory of program supplies.
  • Adhere to infection control practices, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent.
  • Member in good standing with TRO or APO.
  • Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating creative recreation programming.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the interdisciplinary team, and effectively manage challenging situations.
  • Ability to speak a second language such as Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian or Hungarian would be an asset.
  • Certificate in U-First and/or Alzheimer Society for Dementia Care Training Program (DCTP) preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources would be an asset.
  • Computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Publisher.
