Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Underwriting Manager to join our team at Equitable Bank. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting commercial credit facilities, as well as performing additional credit-related and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • 60% of your time will be spent analyzing and underwriting commercial credit facilities, including construction and conventional loans ranging from $2.5 million to $50.0 million.
  • 20% of your time will be dedicated to communicating with external and internal contacts to ensure timely and efficient transaction processing.
  • 10% of your time will be focused on time management of your deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines.
  • 10% of your time will be spent on various administrative and reporting duties required for the department/Company.
Requirements
  • Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 5 years commercial mortgage experience.
  • Demonstrated service excellence within your field.
  • Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred, preferably in business or finance.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business sense combined with sound technical knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
  • Established organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability and desire to attend industry-related events as required.
Job Complexities/Thinking Challenges
  • The position requires the incumbent to be a self-starter and make sound underwriting decisions as efficiently as possible.
  • Commercial mortgage applications can be complex in nature, requiring creative and innovative thinking and proactive problem-solving.
  • The incumbent is required to follow corporate policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in order to work through files and rationalize the recommendations or decisions made.
