The Nursing Unit Clerk is a vital member of the healthcare team at BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre.
About Our TeamWe are dedicated to improving the health of women, newborns, and families through a comprehensive range of services, research, and education.
What You'll Do- Patient Chart Management: Set up, maintain, and complete patient charts, recording vital information such as weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, and lab test results. Attach documents like laboratory and special examination reports to charts after review by authorized staff.
- Communication and Scheduling: Accept calls from Program staff regarding illness and absence from work, communicate information received to the unit(s) and appropriate personnel. Call in relief staff according to pre-determined guidelines and refer problems/difficulties to the supervisor. Maintain relief staff contact list information and other related records. Maintain timekeeping records for Program staff and submit to Payroll as required.
- Receptionist Duties: Receive patients, visitors, and others, answer queries, or direct them to the appropriate area or staff.
- Clerical Support: Perform typing, answering the telephone, requisitioning supplies from Stores, and maintaining related records like time sheets and census information.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education: Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program.
- Experience: One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Key Abilities: Effective communication both verbally and in writing, dealing with others effectively, physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, keyboard proficiency, organizing work, operating related equipment, utilizing various computer software applications, and commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments.

- $44,108 - $54,658 per annum, depending on experience.
