Job Description

This role is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Engineering Manager to join our team and drive technical excellence. As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in delivering high-quality software products.

Your primary focus will be on managing and developing a team of talented engineers, ranging from graduate to senior levels. You will work closely with your team to ensure their growth and development, providing coaching, mentoring, and career guidance.

In addition to team management, you will represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers. Your ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships will be crucial in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a team of engineers, focusing on their growth and development.
  • Communication: Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers, ensuring effective communication and relationship-building.
  • Process Implementation: Identify and implement disciplined engineering processes to ensure timely and high-quality results.
Requirements
  • Candidates must have:
    • An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
    • An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about alternative paths.
    • Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    • A love of developing and growing people, with a proven track record.
    • Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
    • Organised and able to ensure timely, high-quality results.
    • Professional manner interacting with colleagues, partners, and community.
    • Advanced expertise in their own domain.
    • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development.
    • Solid experience working in agile development environments.
    • Demonstrated drive for continual learning.
    • Ability to travel twice a year for company events up to two weeks each.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
