Nursery Labourer

A V K Nursery Holdings is seeking a skilled Nursery Labourer to join our team. As a key member of our horticultural team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:

• Budding trees and cutting horticultural crops to ensure the highest quality of our products.
• Greenhouse cleaning and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
• Removing manually all suckers and water sprouts to promote healthy plant growth.
• Tying and securing plants to prevent damage and ensure optimal growth.
• Training trees to produce more fruit of higher quality through expert pruning and care.
• Weeding and maintaining the health and appearance of our plants.
• Assisting in pruning trees, shrubs and plants to promote healthy growth and development.
• Potting and re-potting plants to ensure they receive the best possible care.
• Transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings to promote healthy growth and development.
• Applying fertilizers to promote healthy plant growth and development.
• Reporting signs of insect or disease damage to ensure prompt action is taken to protect our plants.
• Assisting in grafting activities to promote healthy plant growth and development.
• Digging up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs to ensure they receive the best possible care.
• Watering and tending to plants, lawns and/or gardens to ensure they receive the best possible care.
• Cleaning the work area to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Clearing and collecting brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

• Own transportation to and from work.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks and heavy lifting.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Hand-eye coordination to perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) as required.
