Operational Risk Management Lead

Job Description:
Manulife is seeking an exceptional Operational Risk Management Lead to join our Global Wealth and Asset Management team.
About the Role:
- Assist the Operational Risk Officer in designing, implementing, and delivering an effective risk governance and management program.
- Lead all aspects of operational risk mitigation activities within the Canadian Segment of the business.
- Support activities to facilitate the effective implementation of the operational risk framework.
- Conduct Risk and Control Assessments, documenting key risks and controls and developing action plans to remediate control gaps.
- Contribute to the development of Key Risk Indicators to track identified risks.
- Collect, review, and reconcile internal and external risk incidents/loss events, ensuring timely addressing, including root cause analysis.
- Contribute to the design and execution of scenario analysis for key risks.
- Support change management for new products, business initiatives, and strategies and assess impact on the division's risk profile.
- Develop close partnerships and provide valuable collaboration with business and functional leaders to ensure key risks are properly identified, managed, and mitigated.
- Support the development and maintenance of Global Wealth & Asset Management level Risk Appetite Statements and associated metrics.
- Contribute to developing a strong risk culture and work with the business to reinforce accountability and transparency across the organization.
- Provide support for risk aggregation and reporting.
Requirements:
- Expertise in the Wealth and Asset management industry across various asset classes relevant to the division they support.
- Significant experience in the design, implementation, and/or execution of the Operational Risk Management framework for a large financial institution.
- A seasoned risk professional with a minimum 5 years + of risk management, finance, and/or audit experience.
- Solid understanding of the industry and familiarity with the current regulatory environment.
- Proven expertise and knowledge of ORM concepts and practices, including Risk and Control Self Assessments, Risk Indicators, risk events, scenario analysis.
- A strong moral compass and a commitment to high ethical standards.
- Strong collaboration and partnering skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with business and functional partners to influence decisions.
- Strong program and project management skills to independently manage multiple, conflicting priorities and deliver a quality result within established timelines.
- A highly motivated and results-driven individual with an established track record in building effective programs and bringing strategy into action.
- Highly developed business sense with ability to synthesize complex information from various sources, identifying key points and issues.
- Solid analytical and creative problem-solving skills and the ability to motivate others to implement new solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical issues.
