Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Director Digital Media Planning to lead our digital investment efforts. This is a full-time position based in Toronto, ON, with a salary range of $170,000 - $180,000 + depending on experience.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Digital Media Planning and Buying
  2. Oversee all aspects of plan creation to ensure fully integrated digital media plans meet client objectives.
  3. Collaborate with specialty teams to deliver comprehensive digital plans.
  4. Negotiate rates and terms with media partners to secure optimal value.
  5. Ensure digital plans stay within budget while meeting client needs.
  6. Provide thought leadership in alternative buying models and integrated projects.
  7. Final approver of campaigns before launch to ensure contractual terms are met.
  8. Support dynamic benchmarking for supplier and tactic-specific performance and rates for optimized planning and negotiation.
Supply Side Partnerships & Industry Education
  1. Maintain and grow key marketplace relationships with senior-level media owner and tech platform contacts.
  2. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and share knowledge with the team and agency.
  3. Partner with specialty and partner teams to create case studies and best practice execution.
Managerial/Agency Support
  1. Lead by example while developing, motivating, and coaching the full digital investment team.
  2. Participate in recruitment and growth of junior staff to ensure direct reports master required skills.
  3. Create an environment of trust and accountability by providing clear tasks and objectives when delegating tasks to the team.
Key Competencies
  1. 8+ years of agency experience in a digitally focused role.
  2. Strong business acumen as an expert in the digital space.
  3. Data-led mentality and understanding of digital activation impact.
  4. Strong understanding of syndicated tools used by the team.
  5. Excellent business sense and negotiating skills.
  6. Strong connections in the industry with deep supplier relationships.
  7. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
