Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned automation professional to take charge of current projects, collaborate with internal teams, and drive the development of custom solutions that meet our customers' needs. As an Automation Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Documenting customer requirements through face-to-face meetings or technical documents, working closely with internal teams to review the requirements and project details;
  • Facilitating and leading hardware/software design using established standards and resources as required;
  • Communicating project status effectively to customers and management;
  • Coaching team members in commissioning and testing, validating complete system functionality, and troubleshooting issues with contractors and/or customers to ensure proper operation;
  • Providing project-specific training for machine operators as needed;
  • Assisting in developing system operation manuals and training materials based on project deliverables;
  • Mentoring junior resources and sharing experience and knowledge in a collaborative environment;
  • Maintaining awareness of new and emerging technologies and their potential applications;
  • Developing programming estimates to support cost estimation for quoting;
  • Ensuring all documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately upon project completion;
  • Tracking "lessons learned" on projects and sharing information with engineering and sales teams.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent preferred) and 5-8 years of direct hands-on work experience designing, programming, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems in industrial machinery or related industries;
  • Advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of control system integration, application programming, and system design; background in electrical and instrumentation wiring and troubleshooting; and knowledge of applicable Ontario or Canadian Electrical Codes.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
