The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government responsible for overseeing the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB manages the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, operating retail brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Employee Relations and Compliance to join our team at the Government of British Columbia. This senior-level position requires expertise in interpreting and administering collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with labour, employment, and human rights laws, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and direction to the Labour Relations team, focusing on continuously enhancing services provided to the business.
  2. Oversee all aspects of major workplace investigations, including documentation, reports, and recommendations.
  3. Exercise judgment and provide analysis for complicated employee relations situations grounded in company policy, collective agreement language, and employment law.
  4. Work closely with senior management to apply due diligence regarding legal implications and Acts relevant to labour relations.

Requirements:

This role requires a degree or diploma in labour relations, employee relations, human resources, administrative law, investigations, or a related field. A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Labour Relations practitioner is necessary, along with proven skills in providing guidance and advice for workplace investigations and grievance management in a unionized environment.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
