Be-IT Ltd is a dynamic and innovative company seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Assurance & Accounting team in St. Catharines office.

About the Role

  • We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to lead our assurance and accounting engagements, providing high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct compilation, review, audit, bookkeeping and tax engagements with precision and attention to detail;
  • Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files simultaneously, ensuring seamless client experience;
  • Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition, and payroll walk-through with clients, identifying areas of improvement;
  • Summarize clients' current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports;
  • Assess and assure appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, capital asset additions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepaid expenses;
  • Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports, maintaining confidentiality;
  • Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts, ensuring accuracy and efficiency;
  • Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts, and highlights, effectively communicating complex information;
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members, fostering growth and development;
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities, driving revenue growth and expansion;
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary, to meet client needs and support team collaboration.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • CPA designation or equivalent qualification;
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience, preferably with a focus on assurance and accounting;
  • Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software, including [insert software names], to ensure efficient and accurate data processing;
  • Understanding of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles, enabling strategic decision-making;
