Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Government of Nunavut as a Hospital Clinical Pharmacist.

The successful candidate will provide direct patient care to all patients at the Qikiqtani General Hospital and Kivalliq health center, and function as a resource for drug information for all health centers and long-term care facilities in Nunavut.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide patient-specific individualization of drug therapy.
  2. Identify, resolve, and prevent drug therapy problems using a patient-focused process.
  3. Provide specialized clinical pharmacy services such as medication reconciliation and pharmacokinetic/therapeutic drug evaluation/monitoring.
  4. Proactively communicate patients/therapeutic care plan issues with patients, physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team.
Requirements
  • Recognized Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
  • Three years' experience providing pharmacist services in a clinical setting.
  • Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada certification.
  • Licensed by or eligible for licensing by the registrar of Nunavut.
  • Registration in a Province or Territory in addition to Nunavut.
Assets
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.

This is a term position until August 31, 2024. An eligibility list may be created to fill future vacancies.
