Scholastic is seeking a DEI Intern to join our team in Toronto.

The successful candidate will work with our Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Corporate Communications on initiatives supporting the implementation of our company-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.

The mission of our DEI Strategy is to ensure that our people, our products and our partnerships reflect the diversity of the children and classrooms we serve across the country. As a key member of our team, you will engage in meaningful work that supports your learning and professional growth while contributing to our mission.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gaining valuable experience in the industry and making connections with teams across the company
  • Contributing to projects related to our DEI Strategy, including diversity and representation audits and online learning modules
  • Participating in team meetings and bringing an equity perspective to discussions, issue analysis and problem-solving

Qualifications:

  • Interest in children's books, authors and media
  • Personal values aligned with Scholastic's Credo, including a demonstrated understanding of broadening representation of marginalized communities within the publishing industry
  • Understanding of equity, inclusion and anti-oppression principles and practices in storytelling
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products

Salary: $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience
