Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team at ABM Childcare Center Ltd. As an Early Childhood Educator Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers with care and attention to their needs.
  • Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts to stimulate their creativity and curiosity.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors to inform their care and education.
  • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings to ensure a collaborative approach to their care and education.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Excellent written communication skills to effectively document children's progress and participate in staff meetings.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in the childcare setting.
  • Judgement to make informed decisions about children's care and education.
  • Reliability to ensure a consistent and high-quality service to children and families.
  • Team player to collaborate with early childhood educators and other staff members.
  • Values and ethics to promote a positive and inclusive childcare environment.
  • Creativity to develop engaging activities and programs for children.
  • Honesty to maintain confidentiality and respect children's and families' privacy.
Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition to ensure a smooth transition into the childcare workforce.
  • Offers mentorship programs that pair newcomers and/or refugees with experienced employees to provide guidance and support.
Support for Youths
  • Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth to develop their skills and confidence in the childcare setting.
  • Offers mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth to support their career development and aspirations.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations to promote cultural understanding and respect.
  • Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers.
