The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Electronics Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will provide technical support for the integration and problem diagnosis of our navigational system products both in-house and at customer sites. Your responsibilities will include assembling, performing quality testing, installing, servicing, and repairing our products and navigational systems for clients worldwide.

This is a hybrid role with 4 days/week in office. In addition, you will be required to travel up to (About 1-2 times/month) to support our clients globally. You will work closely with our training manager to develop and deliver technical training to customers on system installation, maintenance, and problem diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install/commission Navigation Systems products at customer sites inside and outside North America.
  • Diagnose and repair hardware assembly problems; diagnose and repair software configuration, network, and integration issues.
  • Provide customer helpdesk email and telephone support.
  • Provide technical guidance and advice to internal staff in resolving technical problems.
  • Assist the production department with testing of component parts and sub-systems.
  • Evaluate and maintain all required records according to Service procedures.
  • Produce and maintain all required documentation in compliance with company requirements and ISO 9001:2008 standards.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, material, and any documentation required for each job are in good order.
  • Evaluate awareness of and compliance to all applicable employment, environmental, health, and WCB safety legislation.
  • Perform additional project-associated tasks as required and determined by the Service Supervisor and Supportability Manager.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A Diploma of Technology in Electronics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of Service Engineering experience preferably in the military domain.
  • Experience in delivering complex support solutions to government/military customers is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical work experience in a technical customer service environment, preferably in marine electronics.
  • Experience in troubleshooting both hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of software protocol and communication protocols such as TCP/IP, RS-232, and RS-422.
  • Experience in building and troubleshooting computer issues, radar, and electronic sensors is an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of Electronic and Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of system networks and software scripting.
  • Excellent customer relations, prioritization, organizational, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
  • A working understanding of communication and data transfer standards is essential.
  • Previous experience and willingness to train other internal and customer technicians is an asset.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000 CDN, and the actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity.
