Position Summary

A full-time opportunity for an adult in-patient Psychiatrist is available starting immediately.

You will be part of a dedicated interdisciplinary team, including psychology, mental health crisis nursing, social work, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, horticulture therapy, and addiction services support.

This is a full-time position (35 hours weekly) and can be Salaried or Incorporated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinically responsible for assigned patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, daily care, and discharge.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care, including daily rounds and individual assessments.
  • Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to provide optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and discharge summary.
  • Utilize electronic medical platforms, such as Caseworks and BDM.
  • Provide clinical guidance to the program and admitting department for referrals and admissions.
  • Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained.
  • Support colleagues with patient coverage during physician absences.
  • Complete and submit OHIP billings in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS) or equivalent body acceptable to the RCPS (C) and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, and customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly developed organizational and time-management skills.
  • Passion for excellent patient-centered and clinical care.
  • Expertise in fostering integrated care involving both mental health and addictions.
