Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Specialist to join our team at bioLytical Laboratories Inc. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to contribute to the design and development of innovative rapid diagnostic tests.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing project objectives, designing and executing stability studies, and troubleshooting test results. Additionally, they will be responsible for assessing and interpreting research outcomes, generating data for meta-analysis, and participating in risk management activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop project or task objectives and proposals;
  • Plan for design verification and validation testing;
  • Plan, design, and execute stability studies;
  • Troubleshoot test results and design challenges;
  • Assess, interpret, and evaluate research outcomes;
  • Generate and compile data for meta-analysis white papers and publishing of peer-reviewed papers;
  • Participate in risk management activities related to the product under development;
  • Translate design outputs into procedures, testing methods, and quality control release criteria;
  • Support and lead design transfer, prepare requirements into documented design verification and validation test plans;
  • Collaborate actively within and outside the department to complete projects and advance creative solutions;
  • Present data within the company, at conferences, or exhibit work in other appropriate events;
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a life sciences discipline, preferably in biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, medical technology, biology, chemistry, or a related science;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a research or clinical laboratory;
  • Industrial experience and protein biochemistry experience are an asset;
  • Knowledge of or experience with GLP, GMP work preferred;
  • Experience in a BSL2 laboratory is an asset;
  • Experience of 5S/Lean 6 Sigma is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and written communication skills are required;
  • You must be able to work independently following a brief orientation and training period;
  • You must have strong analytical and technical writing skills;
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Access, Excel);
  • Organized and detail-oriented;
  • You must be able to work with blood and blood-borne pathogens.
