Job Summary:
We are seeking a Code Compliance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing local codes and regulations related to property maintenance, land use and zoning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations and property maintenance standards.
  • Investigate complaints and reports of code violations, documenting findings and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Issue citations and notices of violation to property owners and tenants outlining required corrective measures and deadlines.
  • Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with correction orders and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation related to inspections, violations and enforcement actions.
  • Education the public and property owners about code requirements, enforcement procedures and the appeals process.
  • Collaborate with other municipal departments, agencies and community organizations to address and resolve code enforcement issues.

Requirements:
  • Certification or diploma in Code Enforcement, Public Administration or a related field.
  • Previous experience in code enforcement, property management or a similar role with a strong understanding of local codes and regulations.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills for identifying and documenting code violations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with property owners, tenants and municipal officials.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and maintain accurate records in a detailed and organized manner.

Salary Estimate: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
