Job Summary

The City of Whitehorse is seeking a highly skilled Water Safety Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our aquatic staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons and providing emergency care in first aid situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor pool users and enforce established standards of conduct and decorum, responding to major and minor emergency situations.
  • Perform light custodial maintenance and minor repairs to facility and equipment.
  • Assist in the inventory and stocking of first aid and program supplies.
  • Perform water tests and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the Aquatic Supervisor to implement specialized aquatic activities and events.
  • Attend seasonal in-service training sessions to maintain industry standards.
  • Act as Head Guard as assigned, leading the pool team to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences for all.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced aquatic environment, exposing you to constant noise, extreme temperatures, and humidity. You must be able to adapt to these conditions while maintaining a high level of focus and attention to detail.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 16 years of age or Grade 10 equivalent education.
  • Lifeguard experience is an asset, but not mandatory.
  • National Lifeguard Pool Certification Option (NL) and Standard First Aid/CPR Level C Certification are required.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) certification and an RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check are also necessary.
