Role Overview

Aecon Utilities is committed to delivering projects faster, smarter, and safer. As an EHS Advisor, you will play a crucial role in promoting a health, safety, and environmental culture within the company.

Job Description

You will be responsible for actively promoting Aecon's Health, Safety and Environmental Manual policies and procedures to all levels of employees. This involves working closely with the Power Construction Services team to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting employee health and safety orientations and site-specific safety orientations
  • Training employees in fall protection, confined space entry, traffic protection, WHMIS, respiratory protection, and emergency response
  • Coordinating training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Forklift, and Propane
  • Conducting workplace inspections and audits
  • Developing workplace plans, including emergency evacuations, fire emergencies, and traffic controls
  • Distributing safety materials and equipment to team members
  • Conducting safety presentations to clients and promoting Aecon safety systems
  • Participating in Joint Health and Safety Committees
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role
  • Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Experience in the Electrical Utility Industry, both Aerial and Underground aspects
  • Strong knowledge of other regulations, such as WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, and Designated Substances
  • An NCSO designation
  • Comfortable traveling to different job sites and occasionally staying overnight
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and be proactive
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong relationship management skills
  • Adaptability to flexible work schedules when required to meet deadlines
  • A valid G driver's license
Estimated Salary

$85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
