Pharmacist I Job Description

About the Role:

The Pharmacist I will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and efficient pharmaceutical services to patients in a busy hospital setting. This includes managing medication therapy, assessing and resolving potential or actual drug-related problems, and overseeing activities related to compounding and packaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis
  • Provide assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems
  • Oversee activities related to compounding and packaging
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive medication management services

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)
  • Pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services
  • Recent experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team
  • Experience with computerized medication order entry, IV admixture programs, and different drug distribution systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacist
