About the Position

BMT Canada is seeking a Senior Engineer with expertise in marine engineering to join our experienced team. This role involves providing technical leadership and support to the Design and Engineering Services (DES) team, managing project activities, and ensuring timely delivery within the company's market area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering design and analysis advice to clients by conducting engineering design and support activities.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams to support client taskings.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, understand their needs, and work to exceed expectations.
  • Evaluate all work against project statements of work and relevant quality procedures.
  • Apply knowledge of domain-specific standards, including IMO regulations, Class Society rules, Transport Canada Regulations, and Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTO's), to support client requirements.
  • Ensure Technical Assurance (TA) of design deliverables or provide guidance and advice to others performing TA activities.
  • Serve as technical lead at an overseas client site, overseeing the technical team, analyzing briefs, writing progress reports, delivering presentations to stakeholders, identifying risks, and developing work schedules.
  • Lead by example: contribute to business objectives, positively support management decisions, freely share information, and mutually support other BMT staff for overall success.
About You

We are looking for adaptable and flexible team members with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in marine engineering.
  • Eligibility for a Canadian security clearance.
  • Experience in complex maritime design programs.
  • Leadership experience in maritime design programs.
  • Understanding of standards for government and commercial vessels.
  • Experience in systems integration, ship construction, and/or repair, including development of engineering change/modification specifications.
  • Experience in major ship construction programs.
  • Defence industry experience, preferably in shipbuilding or ship repair environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of projects.
  • Ability to manage and lead peers without direct authority.
  • Influence and earn the respect of clients.
