Job Title: Area Forester

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Area Forester to join our team at the Government of Alberta. As a key member of our forestry team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the sustainable management of our forest resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review forest operations to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement sustainable forest management plans and strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including industry partners, First Nations communities, and the public, to promote forest sustainability and management practices.
  • Conduct audits and assessments of forest operations to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to support the development of regulations, policies, and procedures related to forest management.
  • Act as a liaison between the Government of Alberta and other stakeholders to promote forest sustainability and management practices.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in forestry or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in forestry or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of forest management principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
