Norfolk County Archives and Culture Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Archives/Heritage and Culture Assistant to join our team at Norfolk County.
About the RoleThis is a permanent, full-time position that will provide administrative support to the Archivist and assist with the development, planning, and coordination of outreach activities, special events, and programming.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in archival studies or a related field, excellent administration skills, and the ability to work effectively with professional staff, volunteers, researchers, and members of the community.
The ideal candidate will be able to market, promote the activities, services, and exhibitions of a public archives, and have a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities- Assist with the management and maintenance of the archives property;
- Provide front-line customer service ensuring positive and constructive interactions with the public;
- Catalogue incoming collections, including registration and accessioning;
- Perform references and retrieval services and respond to long-distance research inquiries;
- Work closely with the Archivist, volunteers, community groups, organizations, and agencies to promote the archives within the community;
- Develop advertising and marketing materials, including monitoring of website and social media accounts;
- A post-secondary education in Archival Studies, Records and Information Management, Library Technician, and/or Museum Studies or an undergraduate degree in a related discipline;
- Three years of administrative experience to be familiar with the scope of the role;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with the public and assist with inquiries and research requests;
- Excellent administration skills, including good financial and time management skills;
We offer a competitive salary range of $58,000 - $68,000 per year, depending on experience.
