About the Opportunity

The Stores Clerk A plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of healthcare services throughout Nova Scotia Health. Reporting to the Manager or designate, this position assists with the receiving, organization, distribution, replenishment, and tracking of inventories and supplies.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills. A working knowledge of the SAP computer system and previous experience in a central stores/purchasing environment are preferred.

This is a permanent full-time position, 70 hours bi-weekly, with a competitive hourly rate of $21.56 - $23.17. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

About You
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education programs
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, priority setting skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of the SAP computer system is preferred
  • Previous experience in a central stores/purchasing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory control preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and current relevant experience with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Materials Management Service in the delivery of patient care and understanding of how errors may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss
  • PLEASE NOTE: This position requires considerable standing, moving, bending, kneeling, and lifting of heavy and awkward objects
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
