Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Assistant/Analyst to join our Product Actuarial team at Foresters Financial. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and pricing of life insurance products in the U.S. and Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with pricing actuaries to produce high-quality deliverables for product initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Develop a deep understanding of pricing models, including the impact of changing assumptions or inputs on model output, and identify potential errors or areas for improvement.
  • Become proficient in Moody's AXIS software to support the development of pricing models and cash flow projections.
  • Apply pricing guidelines, standards, and policies to ensure compliance and accuracy in pricing assumptions and model output.
  • Contribute to the development of product reports and presentations, leveraging your knowledge and expertise to effectively communicate pricing analysis to stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, risks, or infrastructure, and provide recommendations for automation, auditability, and compliance.
  • Develop a strong understanding of how the Product Actuarial team interacts with other Foresters departments, including Corporate Actuarial, Risk Management, Finance, Planning, Sales, IT, and Product Management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, science, business, economics, or a related field.
  • One year of actuarial experience in a life or health insurance company (an asset).
  • Demonstrated progress through the SOA and CIA education and examination process.
  • Excellent communication and technical skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to perform bottom-up checking of processes or models to ensure accuracy of results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognize and troubleshoot errors or areas for improvement.
  • Ability to develop project and time management skills as responsibilities increase.
  • Strong knowledge of life insurance products in the U.S. and Canada, with a willingness to develop and maintain current knowledge.
