The Montessori Post seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Principal/Head of School. This key role will play a pivotal part in shaping the educational environment at our Ontario-based Montessori school, catering to students from Toddler to Grade 12.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision:
As the Principal/Head of School, you will be responsible for upholding and advancing the Montessori philosophy within the school. This will involve collaborating with teachers to implement effective, innovative, and student-centred teaching methods, as well as fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development for faculty.
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
You will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive Montessori curriculum for Toddler to Grade 12 students, ensuring alignment with Ontario curriculum standards and Growing Success. This will involve collaborating with educators to create an engaging, challenging, and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Student and Staff Welfare:
Prioritizing the well-being and individual development of each student and staff member, you will implement strategies to create a positive and inclusive school culture that supports the social and emotional growth of students and staff.
Parent and Community Engagement:
You will build and maintain strong relationships with parents, fostering open communication and collaboration. Actively engaging with the community, you will represent the school at events and establish partnerships to enhance the educational experience.
Administrative Oversight and Financial Management:
Providing effective management and oversight of day-to-day school operations, you will collaborate with administrative staff to ensure efficient functioning of the school, including admissions, scheduling, and resource allocation. You will also work closely with the school board to develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively to support educational initiatives and maintain fiscal responsibility.
Professional Development and Compliance:
Encouraging and supporting the professional growth of staff through training opportunities, workshops, and ongoing education, you will also ensure the school adheres to all relevant education regulations and standards. This will involve working towards and maintaining relevant accreditations and certifications, including Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA), Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC), and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (accredited by the Ministry of Education).
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational leadership, preferably within a Montessori environment, is required. Ontario Principal's Qualification Program (PQP) certification or equivalent experience is also necessary. Additionally, you should be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers, possess strong knowledge and commitment to Montessori principles, and demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
