Humber River Health is seeking a skilled Cardio-Pulmonary Technician to join our Pulmonary Function Lab team. This Temporary Full-Time position offers a competitive hourly rate of $33.19-$38.49, depending on experience.

Job Description:

This role involves performing routine diagnostic tests, including spirometry, walking oximetry, and lung volumes, for in- and outpatients. The successful candidate will be responsible for calibrating, cleaning, and maintaining diagnostic equipment, as well as documenting patient records and observations accurately.

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform diagnostic tests, including spirometry, walking oximetry, diffusion testing, lung volumes, airway resistance, respiratory muscle forces, bronchial provocation testing, Methacholine testing, and other diagnostic testing for in- and outpatients.
  2. Calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic equipment and recognize when equipment malfunctions.
  3. Document and maintain accurate patient records and observations.
  4. Assist with ordering and maintaining departmental supplies.
  5. Participate in quality assurance audits.
Requirements:
  1. Graduate from an accredited Cardio-pulmonary or Pulmonary Function program.
  2. Registered with the Canadian Association of Cardio-pulmonary Technicians (CACPT) or the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  3. Certification and bi-annual maintenance of Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  4. Experience and/or formal training in pulmonary function testing and cardio-pulmonary stress testing required.
  5. Previous respiratory care experience an asset.
  6. Extensive knowledge of pulmonary anatomy/physiology essential.
  7. Effective interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  8. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and priority-setting skills.
  9. Able to work well both autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  10. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to Humber River's patient safety program.
  11. Commitment to customer service, quality patient care, evidence-based practice, and professional standards.
  12. Lifelong learning commitment.
