Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ocean Freight Export Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of ocean freight exports, managing shipments, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shipment Management
    • Responsible for all shipment-level communication between Hellmann and customers, carriers, and vendors.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Senior Product Expertise
    • Acts as senior product subject matter expert when communicating with internal and external parties.
  • Escalation Management
    • Manages and addresses all escalations regarding file profitability - audits and identifies files with loss or low margin and works with team members to determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Performance Management
    • Measures employee performance and provides regular informal and formal feedback within area of responsibility.
    • Analyzes and improves external or internal KPIs for area of responsibility.
  • Staffing and Talent Management
    • Manages staffing levels based on business development, peak volume periods, department performance metrics, and employee vacations.
    • Assists management by proactively providing input on talent acquisition, re-assignment, demotion, and promotion.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or equivalent work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in the Ocean Import field.
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred, or 1-2 years of team lead or import training experience.
