Job Description

This Library Shelving Assistant will report directly to the Page Supervisor, working closely with the Manager of Public Services. The primary responsibilities include:

  1. Safely sorting and returning library materials to their designated shelves;
  2. Maintaining an even distribution of library materials on shelves and keeping reading, play, and study areas clean and organized;
  3. Assisting with the emptying of the book drop;
  4. Shifting and reorganizing library material as needed;
  5. Performing Occupational Health & Safety duties outlined in the Corporation's Health & Safety Program.

The successful candidate will be required to perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

  • Precision and accuracy skills;
  • The ability to work effectively with the public and staff in a pleasant manner;
  • The capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • A commitment to adhering to WPL Policies and Procedures, including the staff code of conduct;
  • Fluency in English is preferred but not mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience, plus a smoke-free office environment and equal opportunities employment.
