Job Summary
The Recreation Therapist is a key member of our team at Simcoe County, responsible for delivering high-quality programming, therapy, and support services to our residents. This role requires a strong commitment to resident safety and a passion for providing exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident programming to meet individual needs.
- Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and community partners.
- Complete resident admission assessments and care plans quarterly, annually, and as required.
- Participate in resident safety principles and practices, following all safe work procedures.
- Function as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team, maintaining effective working relationships with all departments.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Ontario Smart Serve certificate or equivalent.
- Maintain certification in AIS testing and Food Handlers Certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience as an Activationist or Recreation Therapist.
- Bilingualism in English and French (Georgian Village only).
Working Conditions
Exposure to infectious diseases, body substances/fluids, and frequent physical contact for lifts and assists. Work schedule to be determined, with shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
