As a Director of Advanced Underwriting at Sun Life, you will play a key role in shaping our company's underwriting strategy and driving business growth. This leadership position requires extensive experience in medical and financial risk selection, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with management, product, and reinsurers to develop innovative solutions for complex cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate insurance applications, applying holistic underwriting expertise to make sound and competitive decisions.
  • Negotiate internal decisions with reinsurers, adhering to reinsurance treaties and internal rules.
  • Communicate and explain decisions to advisors and clients, leveraging our Client for Life Principles.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, distribution teams, and advisors, delivering exceptional service and expertise.
  • Focus on continuous improvement, identifying areas for growth and recommending solutions.
  • Contribute to a positive environment through teamwork, innovation, and professional development.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Decision-making authority over $10,000,000+ life insurance policies and $1,000,000 critical illness coverage.
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Client and results focus, with a proactive service orientation to support business goals.
  • Strong knowledge of medical and financial risk factors.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and balance priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborative work with internal and external partners.
