Student Recruiter Advisor

The Student Recruiter Advisor plays a pivotal role in promoting programs and services at Douglas College. This position involves planning, maintaining, and executing student domestic recruitment programs to attract and engage prospective students. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with a strong understanding of the B.C. post-secondary education system.
Key Responsibilities- Recruitment and Outreach
- Design and deliver presentations to various audiences, highlighting the benefits of post-secondary education and Douglas College programs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with public and independent secondary schools, government agencies, and community groups.
- Provide accurate information to students on possible post-secondary programs at Douglas College.
- Supervision and Training
- Supervise the work of Student Assistants and Co-op Students, including training, performance evaluations, and exit interviews.
- Support the Associate Student Recruiter Advisor in supervising the Student Ambassador volunteer group.
- Event Planning and Coordination
- Organize and coordinate college events, including school visits, career fairs, and trade shows.
- Set up displays, tables, and promotional materials, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Administrative Tasks
- Prepare correspondence and analytical reports as required.
- Coordinate mailings of Douglas College viewbooks, brochures, and other collateral materials.
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution, plus two years' related work experience.
- A working knowledge of the B.C. post-secondary education system, including admission requirements and programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, including written and verbal fluency in English.
- A valid B.C. driver's license and access to a motor vehicle.
- Experience in providing supervision in a work environment or a demonstrated understanding of effective supervisory practices.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster a student staff team.
- Demonstrated ability to assess student staff performance and provide required training.
