Shift Leader Job Description

As a Shift Leader at Dominion Bar + Kitchen, you will be responsible for leading the Front of House operations, including training, supervision, and opening/closing of the restaurant. This role reports to the Assistant Manager and is a key position in ensuring excellent levels of service are delivered to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all equipment used is in safe working order and report any faults to management.
  • Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolving complaints in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Dominion's policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations.
  • Shift management in support of the management team.
  • Running food and performing table-side service during busy periods to support the serving team.
  • Assist the General Manager or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene, and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.
  • Follow Provincial Liquor laws.
  • Ensure FOH labor cost is on the line to the budget.
  • Ensure that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.
  • Comply with WCB rules and regulations and maintain awareness of any/all other relevant laws and statues.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma, Serving it Right, and minimum 2 years supervisory experience in Restaurant and Bar operations.
  • Superior communication skills, including the ability to retain, coach, mentor, and develop staff.
  • Ability to work with others in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple functions and activities.
  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of employment standards specifically in areas of scheduling and ambassador discipline.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates.
