About the Role

The Cigna Group is seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Partnerships Lead Negotiator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for executing and delivering on our Pharmaceutical Partnerships strategy, with a focus on our Pharmaceutical Listing Agreement (PLA) strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Partnership Development: Collaborate with pharmaceutical manufacturers to negotiate and execute PLAs, ensuring the financial sustainability of our drug plans.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor current market trends, public policy, and the competitive landscape to inform negotiation strategies and ensure alignment with our business objectives.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Lead the execution of the PLA negotiation process, including negotiation strategy, negotiation phase, and contracting, to foster meaningful partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Business Alignment: Work closely with our in-house clinical team to identify opportunities and align with clients on the viability of proposed formulary changes.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day activities related to PLAs, ensuring smooth operations and execution of agreements.
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Deliver annual PLA forecasts within budget, ensuring financial sustainability and alignment with business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years in pharmaceutical market access, pharmacy, health insurance industry, or benefits management.
  • Negotiation Experience: Minimum 4 years of direct rebate negotiations experience.
  • Education: University Degree in Pharmacy, Business, Science, or related field preferred; clinical background considered a strong asset.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual English and French is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Market access, benefits/insurance industry, value proposition development, drug reimbursement processes in the public and private payer landscape, public policy.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a demonstrated ability to create and deliver professional, impactful presentations.
  • Negotiation and Influence: Strong ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts/information.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Landscape: Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian pharmaceutical landscape, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Provincial Formularies and Regulations.
