We are seeking an experienced Deputy Treasurer to join our team in the Township of Hamilton - Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of accounting, accounts receivable and payable, and will administer reserves, coordinate banking, cash-flow monitoring, and the generation of internal & external financial reports.

This key role also involves acting as payroll supervisor and processes payroll when required, overseeing the Township's Asset Management Plan and related reporting, and coordinating month end reconciliations and audit requirements, including interim and year-end.

The ideal candidate will have a degree from a recognized university in Business, Finance, Accounting or other related discipline, and successful completion of Chartered Professional Accountants [CPA] designation in good standing. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, related and demonstrated experience is also required.

A strong knowledge of financial, purchasing, accounting and auditing principles and practices, as well as working knowledge of the Municipal Act and other legislation affecting municipalities, is essential. Demonstrated ability in understanding best practices in financial management and controls is also a must.
