We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Optimization Specialist to join our team at Linamar Corporation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Process Optimization Specialist will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. This includes conducting time studies, developing sequence of operations, and preparing operation sheets.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with production planning to set shop priorities and ensure all tools and documentation required are available.
- Investigate and monitor new machinery, equipment, and processes and recommend or select efficient combinations.
- Conduct time studies to optimize cycle counts of existing processes and develop programs to achieve the best use of equipment, human resources, technology, materials, and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Assist in defining the plant layout and enhance ergonomic requirements by establishing programs and conducting studies.
- Plan and execute projects related to new and pre-existing production lines, improvements, upgrades, layouts, and new equipment related to machining or assembly.
- Attend Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) meetings.
- Recognize tooling-related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with manufacturing support staff.
- Investigate and find resolution of specific processing problems for assigned projects/parts.
- Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems.
- Develop and review all processes and operator instructions to ensure accuracy and conformance to actual standards and procedures and revise as needed.
- Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality, and delivery.
- Participate in the development of process flows, process sheets, FMEAs, and control plans.
- Recognize and resolve process-related difficulties.
- Participate in Customer Focus meetings as required.
- Use statistical methods to analyze production outputs, efficiencies, energy usage, and other data as required.
- Assist in training shop floor personnel in meeting standards and best practices.
- Adhere to TS16949 and applicable customer standards.
- Read drawings to ensure the proposed solutions satisfy requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities.
- Collect data and develop statistics to describe equipment and system functionality. Estimate durations of tasks.
