Job Overview

As a Fire Alarm Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and verification of fire alarm systems. You will read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate installations. Your attention to detail and ability to problem-solve will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform assisted installation, commissioning, and verification activities on fire alarm-related equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications
  • Supervise and coordinate work with electricians working on fire alarm systems
  • Complete verification reports for submittal to customers and carry out system acceptance tests with AHJs and other interested parties
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed as a Fire Alarm Systems Specialist, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the fire protection industry
  • A college diploma in fire protection or electrical/electronic technology, or equivalent experience
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable of provincial building & fire codes for inspection purposes
  • Demonstrated ability to program basic operations on micro-processor-based systems without supervision
