Shipbuilding Business Growth Leader

Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Business Development Director to drive growth for our shipyards. This role involves identifying and developing opportunities in the target market segments, leading capture strategy and plans, and collaborating with various departments and teams.
About the Role
- Develop and execute business development strategies to grow our shipbuilding business.
- Lead activities to find and develop new opportunities with customers and partners.
- Provide leadership to capture teams and proposal teams.
- Maintain key business development contacts with current and potential customers.
- Drive opportunities through our business development process from identification to contract award.
- Develop and implement full capture strategies and plans for each approved opportunity.
- Build and lead capture teams and proposal teams as required.
- Interface with other departments and teams to achieve objectives aligned with overall company priorities.
- Provide leadership and drive solutions that meet customer needs.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience advancing complex business development strategies and bid proposals in the shipbuilding industry or similar sectors.
- University degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Proven track record of identifying and closing new business opportunities in government procurement markets.
- Experience leading and closing complex opportunities with contract values over $5M and ideally over $50M.
- Broad understanding of technical, programmatic, financial, and commercial aspects of complex deals.
- Experience with forming and maintaining strategic partnerships and supplier arrangements.
- This role requires strategic and tactical leadership in market/customer strategy and opportunity capture.
- Multi-faceted leadership skills applicable to direct and influential leadership roles.
- Ability to work in a flexible environment and maintain calm thinking at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with stakeholders and respond strategically and tactfully.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and superior oral and written capabilities.
- Skilled at advocacy, influence, and persuasion.
- Knowledge of complex government markets.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-starter with good organizational skills who can work independently and as a team member.

The estimated salary range for this position is $169,800 - $203,800. In determining final salary, we consider factors like the candidate's skillset, experience, and internal equity.
