Job Summary

The Clinical Operations Assistant will play a vital role at Cornwall Community Hospital, supporting our patients, caregivers, and community in managing clinical conditions and transitions. This position is responsible for assisting patients in maximizing their self-care abilities and embodying a culture of caregiver inclusion in their plan of care.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and possess excellent communication skills. They will be responsible for answering and placing telephone calls, relaying messages, and directing patients' relatives and visitors. Additionally, they will complete diagnostic requisitions, process physician's orders, and ensure that patient charts are complete. Other duties may include ordering supplies for the Unit.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be able to multitask, and work under pressure. They will also possess good interpersonal skills, allowing them to effectively interact with patients and their families.

Requirements

• Completion of Ontario Secondary School Diploma
• Medical Terminology (tested with a pass mark of 75% or greater)
• Medical Office Assistant Course or related experience
• Working knowledge of Word, StaffRight, Excel, Anzer
• Good understanding of Emergency Response Codes
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Good interpersonal skills necessary to deal with patients and their families
• Demonstrated ability to process physician's orders
• Demonstrated ability to read and understand instructions, memos, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to do basic arithmetic to complete reports
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
• Good interpersonal and organization skills and strong team orientation
• Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
• Functional level in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French – and testing completed)
