Job Opportunity

ARCAN is seeking a skilled Safety Manager to lead the Environmental, Health & Safety Department of our construction company in Northern Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a safety culture among employees, eliminating injuries and accidents through education and increasing awareness across the ARCAN Group of Companies. This includes considering the company's commitment to safety in planning and implementing actions related to their areas of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Track and report corporate safety activities on a regular basis.
  2. Manage site safety and reporting software on a daily basis.
  3. Communicate with project staff at sites and offices on a daily basis.
  4. Oversee COR certifications and audits.
  5. Negotiate with local safety agencies, governments, and other safety associations.
  6. Manage employee orientation, course training, and certification.
  7. Claims management.
  8. PPE supply management for the entire company.
  9. Review and produce corporate safety manuals.
Skill Requirements
  1. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills.
  3. Ability to coordinate Indigenous relations.
  4. Effective time management.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  6. Availability for periodic travel throughout the Territories.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. A minimum of 5 years' experience in jobsite safety or equivalent.
  2. National Construction Safety Officer Designation.
  3. Train the trainer certification in fall protection and mobile equipment.
