About the Role:

As a Camp Counsellor with the City of Richmond Hill, you will be responsible for supervising groups of children or youth in a day camp setting. This role requires assisting in the implementation and delivery of camp activities, ensuring camper safety and security throughout the day. You will work effectively with program coordinators, directors, supervisors, peers, participants, and the public.

Daily Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement daily camp activities that cater to diverse needs and interests.
  • Modify activities to ensure inclusive participation from campers with disabilities.
  • Maintain a variety of engaging programs throughout the day.
  • E nsure optimal camp ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Collaborate with volunteers to ensure their involvement and assign responsibilities.
  • Foster a welcoming environment through effective communication and interaction with participants.
  • Promote camper safety and security by monitoring activities and responding to incidents.
  • Timely completion of necessary forms (accidents, incidents) is crucial.
  • Represent the City of Richmond Hill with a positive image, embodying cooperative, organized, enthusiastic, and well-groomed demeanor.
  • Regularly report to work on time and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Wear assigned uniform and name tag as required.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on policies and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to Community Services Department guidelines.
  • Sustain exceptional public relations at all times, both with staff and the public.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Be prepared to work before- and after-care shifts throughout the summer.
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates must be at least 15 years old.
  • Background experience working with children and a willingness to learn is essential.
  • Obtaining High Five PHCD Certification and holding Standard First Aid and CPR C certifications are mandatory.

Estimated Annual Salary: $40,000 - $60,000

This salary range reflects the typical compensation for similar positions in the area, taking into account factors such as location, industry standards, and job requirements.
