Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team at the Youth Justice Residence. As a Counsellor, you will provide support and guidance to youth in detention, helping them develop life skills and achieve their goals. You will work closely with clients, their families, and community partners to ensure successful reintegration into the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Group Facilitation: Provide direction and advice to clients on daily living activities, including hygiene, budgeting, and social skills.
  • Support and Counselling: Offer counselling and support to clients and their families, assisting them in reaching their individual goals.
  • Community Outreach/Outings: Supervise community/recreational outings for clients, liaise with community partners, and escort youth to appointments.
  • Administrative Duties: Provide clerical and reception support to the program.
  • Health and Safety: Foster a safe and healthy work environment for residents and staff, dealing with crisis situations as needed.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Social Services, e.g., Child and Youth Worker, Youth Justice.
  • Valid First Aid and CPI certifications.
  • At least one year of recent work experience in services/programs for youth in detention, working with youth who have been in the criminal system, and group facilitation in a community setting.
